HIV/AIDS Legal Project of the Legal Aid Society

Provides free legal services to individuals affected
by HIV/AIDS who otherwise cannot afford an attorney. It ensures that persons
have access to the legal system and receive the protections and benefits
provided by law. Also provides education on legal issues of HIV/AIDS.
Since 1992, the Legal Project has provided free services to over 1,000
clients on issues involving insurance, discrimination, access to care
and public benefits, testing and confidentiality.

AIDS Services Center Coalition, Inc.

AIDS Services Center started in 1989 and in 1994 incorporated into
AIDS Services Center Coalition, Inc. This umbrella organization serves
as a clearinghouse for information, statistics and as a resource center
to give direction to the newly diagnosed, their friends and their families
about available services. The A.S.C.C. also provides information on testing
for HIV and provides public speakers of PLA's (Persons Living with AIDS)
among other services. The AIDS Services Center Coalition, Inc. has a membership
of (11) community based organizations, (2) A.S.C.C. affiliated programs
and (4) Members-at-Large from within the community. The organization works
together as the Louisville AIDS Walk each September working to raise much
needed funds to apply to direct services to the HIV + community and their
families.

Louisville AIDS Walk unites the community in heightening awareness of
HIV/AIDS and in raising money to address the needs of those in our community
with HIV/AIDS. One hundred percent of the Walk's net proceeds are distributed
to local AIDS organizations providing essential services to people with
HIV/AIDS. A donation to the Louisville AIDS Walk is an investment in caring.

We are a diverse people dedicated and united to enhance the quality of
life of persons living with HIV/AIDS. The goals we share are to promote
self-empowerment and education to those persons both infected and affected
by HIV/AIDS. The AIDS Resource Center works with the community through

Louisville Youth Group

Louisville Youth Group is a peer support group for gay and lesbian, bisexual
and transgender young people under the age of 21." Social and topic
meetings are held weekly. We average between 20-30 young people at a meeting
and have trained adult facilitators present who can offer referrals. Youth
leaders preside over each meeting. Young people or adults interested in

returned confidentially and quickly.
Volunteers of America Care Coordinator Program

Volunteers of America manages the Care Coordinator Program offering case
management and financial assistance for health related needs, such as
medications, health insurance, nutrition, transportation to medical appointments,
and housing stabilization, for people living with HIV/AIDS.
Volunteers of America STOP Program

The STOP (Stop the spread of HIV through Testing, Outreach & Prevention)
education program of Volunteers of America is dedicated to preventing
the spread of HIV through education, outreach, and group interaction,
in a caring nonjudgmental and direct manner. Volunteers of America also
provides care and treatment for substance abuse in association to HIV/AIDS.
WINGS Clinic

WINGS is a federally funded outpatient medical clinic for HIV+ persons.
Ryan White Title III funding, along with the support of University of
Louisville Department of Family & Community Medicine, has made it
possible for WINGS to operate Monday through Friday 8 am - 5 pm. The goal
of WINGS is 100% access to comprehensive medical care for HIV+ persons
and 0% disparity in the quality of care provided. WINGS provides services
including primary care, infectious diseases, nutrition services, pharmacy,
support groups, mental health assessments and referral, as well as liaisons
to community services for those with HIV/AIDS.

The resource center keeps updated literature available to people infected
and affected by HIV/AIDS and those needing to study the facts of HIV/AIDS
and other STD's. The innovative education center offers the latest publications,
newsletters, Internet access, service organization information and a news
board (Hot off the Press). Other user- friendly features offered are an
information tree and over 160 educational binders with categories including
opportunistic infections, drug protocol, specific populations, living
with HIV, advocacy and other empowerment issues. The resource center also
allows individuals to sit in a comfortable setting and watch the latest
videos available on the center's TV/VCR and has pamphlets from all the
pharmaceuticals about treatment. We also offer our POSITIVELY LIVING!
educational workshop three times a year and host special forums periodically
that are presented by pharmaceutical representatives.

provides services to persons by serving as a link between programs and
communities. Enable persons to begin the process of reducing personal

AIM offers pastoral care and counseling to individuals, couples and families

offered when a person is newly diagnosed. Both men's and women's therapy
groups are also available. AIM offers pastoral care services that include
home and hospital chaplaincy. AIM also offers marriage and funeral ceremony
planning and conducting of services by an ordained minister.

KALA (Kentucky AIDS Life Alliance) is a support group for people living

client based organization, which collaborates with other agencies and
groups to educate and enlighten people living with HIV as to the resources
that are available to them. KALA is a non-discriminative non-profit organization
that welcomes everyone personally facing the social and economic conditions
that accompany this epidemic in our community today.
